Event Overview
1. PortalCam Presentation
We already had the chance to test the PortalCam ourselves — a camera that combines LiDAR with a multi-camera setup (two front and two fisheye lenses). Unlike traditional surveying tools, its main purpose is photorealistic visualization, immersive environments, and creative applications. What’s especially exciting: the PortalCam can capture spaces quickly and with high visual fidelity, producing 3D Gaussian Splatting models that are ideal for VR, AR, film, virtual locations, or product visualization. Colt Chen from XGRIDS will also be on site to answer technical questions and provide insights into practical use — from recording to workflow to real-world applications.
2. Case Study: Gaussian Splatting with 360-Degree Cameras
Daniel Dinnes will share his experience from a recent trip to the U.S., where he used three 360-degree cameras to create Gaussian Splatting datasets. His workflow follows the methods developed by Olli Huttunen, a recognized figure in the Gaussian Splatting community. The talk offers in-depth insights into setup, processing steps, and results — particularly valuable for those interested in generating visual 3D models without investing in highly specialized hardware.
3. ACCIOSONIC Stereoscopic 3D Screen (Glasses-Free)
On site, you’ll have the chance to try out a novel 3D display that delivers spatial depth without the need for glasses. The so-called naked-eye technology from ACCIOSONIC is designed for creatives working with immersive content in design, film, simulation, or interactive presentations. The screen uses a sensor-based system to render 3D visuals and automatically adapts to the viewer’s eye position for a seamless experience.
